This
season German Villar returns as a guest artist for Don Jose in
Carmen and the title role in Zampa to Stadttheater
Giessen, Germany where in the past two seasons he has performed
Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Alfred in Die Fledermaus,
Loris in Fedora, Pollione in Norma, Mitch in
A Streetcar named Desire, Charles VII in The
Maid of Orleans, Lionel in Martha and Isamele in
Nabucco.

Villar made is US debut in 2001 Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly
with Opera
Brooklyn in New York and was Lensky in Eugene Onegin
with Opera
North USA in 2002 where he returned in 2003 for Alfredo
in La Traviata. In 2004 he sang Pinkerton in the 1904 La
Scala version of Madama Butterfly for the centennial
celebration of the work in NY. He also sang his first Cavaradossi
in Tosca with Shreveport
Opera and the title role in Werther in Israel. Next
season he sings Pollione in Norma with Virginia
Opera. Mr. Villar made his Spanish debut in 2001 in a
concert performance of La Traviata in his native Valencia.
Amongst
other appearances the young tenor includes a concert version of
I Lombardi in the role of Oronte and Luigi in Il Tabarro
in Chiari, Italy and Don Jose in Carmen in Casalmggiore,
Italy as well as Lieder recitals in Cuenca and Valencia and concerts
with the Orchestra of Castellon at the Palau
de la Musica in Valencia.
A
winner of the 2002 Francisco
Viñas Voice Competition, German Villar is a graduate
of the Music Conservatory of Valencia and has been the recipient
of numerous prizes and awards. |
